Dear visitor,
Welcome to my personal website.
My name is Tabitha Shalima de Kruijk (Rotterdam, 1989), and I am an drawing artist with a background in philosophy (B.A.) and a minor in Logic and Computation.
Although I enjoy philosophy and getting lost in conversations about the wonders of life, I most enjoy losing myself in drawing — in creating images that grow from a fascination with patterns, perception, and the hidden structures of reality. My work is inspired by nature, fractals, and artists such as M.C. Escher, Alphonse Mucha, Alex Grey, scientists like Donald Hoffman and music created by TOOL and Tchaikovsky. I’m interested in the connection between analytical structure and creative intuition.
I have been drawing for as long as I can remember. Portraits and realism have always been my main focus — the challenge of capturing what makes someone or something feel alive.
Until leaving a closed religious community and going through an existential crisis deeply influenced the way I see the world. I learned that there is far more to reality than what we are taught to believe. That realization strengthened my love for nature and my curiosity about everything we can’t fully grasp. Through my art, which evolved into more abstract figures, I try to express that sense of wonder and the emotional depth that comes with seeing the world anew. The works displayed on this website are shared in reduced resolution.
